Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities regarding the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Hertfordshire requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Hertfordshire, drivers must be at least 21 years of age, though some vehicle types may have different age restrictions, resulting in extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle category is required, as well as identification and proof of current address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Hertfordshire office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate this. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may explore additional insurance options to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional fees.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized individuals to drive is not allowed. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should not be used for purposes for which it is not designed, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the specified geographical area without prior consent is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by law in Hertfordshire, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for any loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraud.
9. Applicable Law in Hertfordshire
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
